Best Food For Healthy Hair

In the polluted environment that we live in, you’d be lucky if you still have naturally thick and healthy hair. Numerous times we experiment with a number of products even after being aware of how chemically induced they are. Stress and anxiety are the prime causes of hair fall, but so is an unhealthy diet, and we are all the unfortunate victims of at least one of these deeds.
Research shows there are two things that we can follow to improve the current conditions of extreme hair loss; firstly, avoid any further experimentation on your hair, and secondly, add foods such as vegetables, fruits and dairy to your diet if you really want to improve your hair conditions. Below are a few examples that have worked wonders for many out there:

SPINACH
If I had a dollar for every time someone told me that they hated spinach, I’d be able to afford another hair dye (not that I need it). Green vegetables are known to be very nutritious and spinach is the king of green vegetables. It is loaded with Vitamin A and C, folate and iron -- all of which promote speedy and healthy hair growth. You can add it to your diet by cooking it in a number of ways, such as Palak Gosht, Palak Paneer and Palak Daal.

GUAVA
Although we can consider oranges as the fruit that is extremely high on vitamin C, there are other fruits that are higher in nutrients and can benefit five times more. This is the Guava which is so rich in vitamins that it is scientifically proven to be extremely helpful for thin and weak hair. Additionally, they taste delicious so there really can’t be a better delight that a fruit that tastes good and is also beneficial for you in so many ways!

EGGS
We all known that eggs are the ‘protein providers’ of your body. What we don’t know is that they are also loaded with Vitamin B (biotin) and both of these nutrients combined make the perfect duo for healthy hair. You can add eggs to your diet by making them for breakfast by boiling them, making an omelet or making even Shakshuka.

YOGURT
Do you want to know what the building block of your hair is? It’s protein. Do you also want to know which food is loaded with protein? It’s yogurt.  Along with Vitamin B5 present, the rich nutrients in yogurt leave your hair stronger, healthier and shinier than before.

BERRIES
Another fruit that provides a high amount of vitamin C to your body are the different variations of berries.  A cup (144 grams) of strawberries provides an impressive 141% of your daily vitamin C needs. Adding this to your diet will only make your hair healthy and strong, prevent hair loss and only add to the various benefits that it possesses.

FISH
Fishes like Swordfish, Mackerel and Tuna have high levels of mercury which can lead to hair loss in the future; hence, these should be avoided. Fishes other than these should be consumed at least once or twice a week because they have high levels of magnesium, which is very important for shiny and strong hair. You can add fish to your diet by making Pan-seared Fish, Balti Fish, Bohra Fried Fish or Fish Kebabs for dinner.

LENTILS
There are plenty of ways to cook lentils and add them to your diet, such as; Achaari Daal, Makhni Daal Chana, Daal Gosht Handi or Mori Nu Daal
Lentils are full of nutrients such as protein, iron, zinc and biotin which brings back the shine and reduces split end, so adding this to your diet would only bring you one step closer to having gorgeous hair.

Being a Pakistani, food has always been my comforter, be it me getting happy over a happy meal or my father asking me to go to school just to get sweets in return. Food is not just about eating, its a sentiment that connects people with each other. I started writing for Food Tribune because of my love for food.
