Palak Paneer

Palak paneer is from the Indian subcontinental cuisine. It consists of a thick spinach gravy topped with paneer chunks. The spinach is blanched thenpured and cooked with mild spices. Thisdish is specially served with phulkas and best for vegan taste.

Ingredients

    • Spinach1 Kilogram
    • Water½ litre
    • Cottage cheese, cubes250 grams
    • Oil2 - 3 tablespoons
    • Butter2 - 3 tablespoons
    • Onion, chopped2
    • SaltTo taste
    • Red chilli powder1 tablespoon
    • Ground coriander½ tablespoon
    • Ground cumin½ teaspoon
    • Ground white pepper½ teaspoon
    • Chicken powder½ teaspoon

Preparation

  • Heat water in a pot, add spinach, and cover the lid. Boil until half cooked.
  • Blend the drained spinach into a smooth paste.
  • In another small pot heat oil and butter, sautéing the onion until it softens.
  • Add spinach paste, mix, and add salt, red chilli powder, ground coriander, ground cumin, ground white pepper, and chicken powder. Mix and cover the lid, simmering for 10 minutes on low flame.
  • Heat oil in a small frying pan and fry cubed cottage cheese until roasted.
  • Add it in the spinach mixture and mix.
  • Garnish with cottage cheese, cream, and coriander leaves.
