This delicious dish consists of poached eggs prepared on a bed of tomato curry and various fragrant herbs and spices. Originated from the Ottoman Empire and North Africa, this dish is a favorite across many cultures and is perfect for a good hearty breakfast or sehri.

Ingredients

    • Oil3 tablespoon
    • Onion1, finely chopped
    • Garlic Cloves2, finely chopped
    • Green Chillies2, finely chopped
    • Black Pepper1 teaspoon
    • SaltTo taste
    • Cumin Seeds1 teaspoon
    • Red Chilli Powder1 teaspoon
    • Tomato Puree2 cups
    • Capsicum1, finely chopped
    • CorianderFor garnish
    • Eggs3

Preparation

  • In a pan heat oil and saute onions.
  • Then add garlic cloves and mix well.
  • Then add chopped green chillies, black pepper, salt, cumin seeds, red chilli powder and mix well.
  • Add tomato puree, stir and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Then add capsicum and mix.
  • Then in the pan make a little space with the spoon for the eggs.
  • Cover the lid and let it simmer for about 3 minutes.
