Meethey samosay are a popular appetizer in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, and especially made during Ramadan and on Eid. The basic recipe involves a sweet samosa base drizzled in sugar syrup. You can make modifications by the addition of different fillings as per your choice. Common fillings include pistachios, almonds, and shredded coconut.

Ingredients

    • Flour1 Cup
    • Butter1 Tsp
    • SaltTo Taste
    • Cardamom powder1 Teaspoon
    • Icing Sugar2 Tablespoons
    • WaterAs required
    • Water1/2 Cup
    • Sugar1 Cup
    • Cardamom powder1 Teaspoon
    • Edible Silver Leaf
    • Crushed pistachios

Preparation

  • Take flour in a bowl and add salt, cardamom powder, cornflour, and butter. Mix untill you get a crumbly mixture.
  • Add water and knead soft dough. Add water gradually while kneeding.
  • Prepare the sugar syrup while the dough rests. To make sugar syrup, take half cup water and half cup sugar in a pan.
  • Add cardamom powder and let it cook on medium-low flame until the sugar is completely dissolved and it gets a thick consistency.
  • Divide the dough into 5 -6 sections and make equal-sized balls.
  • Roll out and flatten all the balls to a similar size approx. to the size of your palm.
  • Sprinkle corn flour on each flattened dough and place them over each other.
  • Now take your rolling pin and stretch them to a bigger flat bread size.
  • Start rolling it from one end to the other like a roll.
  • Cut it in half and flatten the dough. It should be around 3 inches in width.
  • Cut small triangles of equal sizes with a knife.
  • Fry on medium heat till they get a golden color.
  • Take out and garnish with silver paper and pistachios.
  • Enjoy!
