Bohri Malpura

Made with semolina and flour, and sometimes topped with sugar syrup, malpura is a favorite in the Bohri community. It is made like a pancake but tastes sweeter. Different cultures have their special malpura recipes some of which are with filling. Bohri malpura is usually served with malai or lassi and enjoyed in breakfast.

Ingredients

    • Water2 cups
    • Cardamom2
    • Sugar1 cup
    • AP Flour1 cup
    • Semolina1/2 cup
    • Baking Powder1/2 tsp
    • Cardamom Powder1/4 tsp
    • Milk1 cup
    • Oil2 - 4 tbsp
    • Almondsfor garnish
    • Pistachiofor garnish

Preparation

  • To prepare sugar syrup, pour water into a deep pan.
  • Add green cardamom and sugar, and whisk to help the sugar dissolve quicker.
  • Cook until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • In a bowl add flour, semolina, baking powder, cardamom powder, and mix well.
  • Now pour milk gradually and make a thick mixture.
  • Heat oil in a pan and pour the prepared flour mixture into the pan and cook each side for 3 minutes.
  • Take them out on a plate when done from both sides.
  • Drizzle sugar syrup.
  • Garnish with pistachios and almonds.
  • Enjoy!
