Shahi Halwa

Shahi Halwa is a delicacy we all love to treat ourselves with. It is originated from North India. The halwa is prepared with suji, ghee and dry nuts. The texture of the halwa just melts in the mouth. It is served on special occasions either warm or cold.

Ingredients

    • Butter3-4 tablespoons
    • Semolina1 ½ cup
    • Ghee½ tablespoon
    • Granulated sugar½ cup
    • Water½ cup
    • Cardamom powder1 teaspoon
    • Milkas required
    • Saffron1/2 teaspoon
    • Pistachio,crushed2-3 tablespoons
    • Almonds, crushed2-3 tablespoons
    • Ghee2 tablespoons
    • Raisins2 tablespoons

Preparation

  • Heat the clarified butter in a small pot over medium flame. Add semolina and roast until crumbled.
  • Add the clarified butter and mix well.
  • Add the sugar and stir until it is dissolved.
  • Then add the water and stir well for 10 minutes.
  • Add the cardamom powder and mix well again.
  • Now add the milk, saffron threads and stir well for 10 minutes or more until the halwa leaves the base of the pan.
  • Add the crushed pistachios and stir well.
  • Add the crushed almonds, a tablespoon of ghee and stir well.
  • Then add the raisins and mix again.
