Mori Nu Daal

Mori Nu Daal is a famous and healthy Parsi delicacy. Mori means mild or minimal spices. This Indian style lentil soup is a favorite for all seasons, and is often served at special occasions in Parsi and Gujarati households.

Ingredients

    • Split chickpea lentil500 grams
    • Water1 litre
    • Ground turmeric1 teaspoon
    • Butter3-4 tablespoons
    • Oil3-4 tablespoons
    • Saltto taste
    • Chili flakes1 teaspoon

Preparation

  • To boil lentils: heat water in a medium pot and add the split chickpea lentils.
  • Add the ground turmeric, stir and bring it to a boil.
  • Remove the scum that comes at the surface of the pot and boil the lentils until completely cooked.
  • Now blend the lentils into a smooth paste.
  • Then in small pot heat butter, oil, add the blended lentil and stir well
  • Now add salt, chili flakes and cook for 2-5 minutes on low flame.
