Matar Chicken Shorba


A creamy curry prepared with chicken cooked in peas, yogurt, and various traditional spices. This dish is the perfect combination of meat and vegetables, and is just as nutritious as it is tasty. Serve with rice or chapati for the perfect lunch or dinner option.

    • Oil7 – 8 tablespoon
    • Onions2 – 3, sliced
    • Chicken1 KG
    • Peppercorn½ teaspoon
    • Turmeric Powder½ teaspoon
    • Red Chilli Powder1 teaspoon
    • Coriander Powder1 teaspoon
    • Cumin Powder1 teaspoon
    • SaltTo taste
    • Garam Masala1 teaspoon
    • Tomatoes1 – 2, diced
    • Yogurt1 cup
    • WaterAs required
    • Potaotes4 – 5
    • Peas½ KG
    • Green Chillies4 – 5
    • CorianderFor garnish


  • Heat oil in a pot and stir in onions. Fry until brown.
  • Add chicken and stir well for a few minutes.
  • Stir in peppercorn, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin, salt, garam masala and mix well.
  • Mix in diced tomatoes, yogurt, and water. Cover with a lid and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Stir in potatoes, and let simmer for 7 more minutes.
  • Add in peas and green chilies, and let simmer again.
  • Garnish with coriander.
