7 Ways To Drink More Water

Drinking water is extremely important, especially in this scorching heat, when your body releases excessive amounts of water in the form of sweat. In order to avoid dehydration, it is important that we consume a good amount of water, regularly. It is recommended to drink between 1.2 to 2 liters a day. It sounds boring, we know, especially when you’re addicted to the other stuff like sodas and coffee, but keep reading and you’ll see just how essential water is.

Water has numerous health benefits. It helps with weight reduction, eases discomfort in pregnancy, treats kidney stones and keeps us hydrated which in turn affects our energy levels.

Here are a few ways for you to increase water consumption:

USE WATER AS AN APPETIZER
Drink a glass of water before you start your meal, this way water will not only work as an appetizer but it will also cut down your appetite resulting in weight loss eventually.

ADD FLAVOUR TO YOUR WATER
Add thin slices of orange, lemon and mint leaves in your water bottle to give it a taste. This will not only satisfy your taste buds but will increase your thirst, clean your body of all the disease and reduce weight. You can add different flavors on alternate days and water will be your favorite drink in no time.

BUY A CUTE WATER BOTTLE
For this you’ll have to go on a water bottle hunt and find the one that suits your personality, one which makes you want to take it everywhere. We know it sounds a little silly, but it actually works wonders. So whether you’re going shopping, to work or basically anywhere, fill your bottle up and keep it on your desk, you will naturally want to hold it every once in a while.

EAT YOUR WATER
If we still haven’t been able to convince you to increase your water intake, then we suggest you try eating it. Confused? Don’t be, we’ll make it easier for you. Fruits and vegetables such as Apricot, Cucumber, Oranges, Pineapples, Melons, Cantaloupe and Peaches contain more than 80% water.
Adding these to your diet will do your work, they can also be treated as a main course if you’re following a healthy diet and when taken for breakfast, it can keep you hydrated throughout the day. A fruit bowl a day can keep the dehydration away.

MAKE IT YOUR GYM PARTNER
We all know that workout means sweat, sweat and sweat. And that results in dehydration, so the best way to avoid dehydration is to finish up a water bottle right after your exercise routine. To make this a habit, carry your own water bottle to the gym so that follow this practice right away.

CARRY YOUR WATER BOTTLE EVERYWHERE
Whether it’s a shopping trip, work or just a park walk, carry your water bottle everywhere. Mostly when we go out, we get busy and are unable to keep up with time, and forget to drink water.

ADD SPICY FOOD TO YOUR DIET
Adding red chillies to any dish will make you want to drink water after every bite, plus studies show that hot peppers gives your metabolism a boost.

So now that you know just how to incorporate more water into your daily routine, go out there and hydrate yourself!

Being a Pakistani, food has always been my comforter, be it me getting happy over a happy meal or my father asking me to go to school just to get sweets in return. Food is not just about eating, its a sentiment that connects people with each other. I started writing for Food Tribune because of my love for food.
