Shimla Qeema

Shimla Qeema is known to be one of the most eaten dishes of Pakistan. This delicious mince is cooked with a combination of shimla mirch and perfectly ground spices. This dish can be served at dinner, lunch or even at brunches. It is often served with rice, roti and naan.

Ingredients

    • Beef mince700 grams
    • Ghee1 cup
    • Onion, sliced1
    • Coriander seeds½ teaspoon
    • Cloves½ teaspoon
    • Cinnamon sticks1
    • Peppercorn½ teaspoon
    • Tomato, diced2
    • Ginger garlic paste1 tablespoon
    • Saltto taste
    • Red chili powder1 teaspoon
    • Tomato paste2 tablespoons
    • Ground black pepper½ teaspoon
    • Ground cumin½ teaspoon
    • Ground coriander½ teaspoon
    • Yogurt2 tablespoons
    • Wateras required
    • Green chilies4
    • Capsicum, diced2

Preparation

  • Heat ghee in a medium pot and saute onions until golden brown.
  • Add coriander, cloves, cinnamon sticks, peppercorn and saute until brown.
  • Add beef mince, stir well until no longer pink.
  • Add diced tomatoes and stir well.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and stir.
  • Add salt, red chili powder, tomato paste, ground black pepper and stir well.
  • Add ground coriander, ground cumin and stir well.
  • Add yogurt and mix.
  • Add water if needed, green chilies, cover the lid and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Add freshly chopped coriander and stir.
  • Add diced capsicum, stir and cook for 5 more minutes.
