Prawn Karahi

Ocean - fresh prawns sauteed with aromatic spices, cooked in the drooling curry made with tomaotoes, spices and yogurt. Kadhai or Karahi is a round deep cooking pot that look likes a wok, used in making stirfried curry dishes. Prawn Karahi can be served with rice and naan.

Ingredients

    • Oil½ cup
    • Prawns1 kilo
    • Tomato, chopped3
    • Crushed red chili1 teaspoon
    • Garam masala½ teaspoon
    • Red chili powder1 tablespoon
    • Ground coriander seeds½ teaspoon
    • Ground cumin seeds½ teaspoon
    • Salt to taste
    • Coconut milk powder1 teaspoon
    • Ginger garlic paste½ teaspoon
    • Yogurt¼ cup
    • Fresh corianderfor garnish

Preparation

  • Heat oil in a wok, fry prawns for half a minute, and set aside in a bowl.
  • Heat oil in a wok, add chopped tomatoes and sauté.
  • Add crushed red chilies, garam masala, red chili powder, black pepper, ground coriander seeds, ground cumin seeds, salt, coconut milk powder and stir well.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and mix well for a minute.
  • Add fried prawns to the gravy.
  • Stir in yogurt, cover the lid, and cook for 5 minutes till the oil separates from the gravy.
  • Add green chilies, garnish with fresh coriander and serve it with rice or chapati.
