Garlic paste1 teaspoon
Ginger paste½ teaspoon
Tomatoes1-2

Red lentils1 KG
Red Chilli Powder1 teaspoon
SaltTo Taste
Coriander Powder1 teaspoon
Cumin Powder1 teaspoon
WaterAs required
Yogurt½ cup
Turmeric Powder½ teaspoon

Preparation
Heat oil in a large pot, add sliced onions and fry until brown.
Add cumin seeds, star anise, black cardamom, cloves, peppercorn, whole red chili, cinnamon sticks and stir for 2 minutes.
Stir in garlic paste and ginger paste.
Mix in diced tomatoes and whole green chilies.
Add red lentils, red chili powder, salt, coriander powder, cumin powder and stir for two minutes.
Now add water and bring to a boil for 15-20 minutes.
Stir in yogurt and turmeric powder, and let simmer for 10-12 minutes.
Add soaked rice and stir well.
Garnish with coriander leaves and let simmer for 10-12 minutes.
