A healthy and mouth-watering dish made with rajma / lobia / in mildly spicy thick gravy that is cooked to perfection. Its a hearty dish that can be served at lunch especially with rice.

Ingredients

    • White kidney beans, soaked½ kilograms
    • Wateras required
    • Oil3 – 4 tablespoons
    • Onion, sliced1
    • Butter½ teaspoon
    • Garlic paste½ teaspoon
    • Ginger paste½ teaspoon
    • Tomato, diced1 – 2
    • Red chili powder1 teaspoon
    • Ground coriander½ teaspoon
    • Turmeric powder½ teaspoon
    • Saltto taste
    • Tamarind chutney1 tablespoon
    • Garam masala½ teaspoon
    • Green chili, chopped2 – 3
    • Fresh coriander, choppedfor garnish

Preparation

  • In a small pot heat water, add salt, soaked rajma bring it a boil until the lobia is cooked.
  • Heat oil in a small pot, add onion, butter and saute until light brown.
  • Add boiled lobia and mix well.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and mix.
  • Add water and stir.
  • Add diced tomatoes, red chili powder, ground coriander, turmeric, salt, and mix.
  • Add a little water, stir well, cover the lid and cook for 5 - 6 minutes.
  • Add tamarind chutney, garam masala, chopped green chilies and mix well.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped coriander.
