Aloo Ka Bhurta


A delicious dish of North Indian origin, Aloo Ka Bhurta translates to mashed potatoes, and is prepared with mouthwatering spices, boiled potatoes, and fragrant South Asian herbs. Served with thinly rolled chapati, this dish is a popular vegetarian option.

    • Potatoes, cut into cubes½ KG
    • Wateras per needed
    • Oil2 – 3 tablespoons
    • Onions, sliced1 cup
    • Butter2 tablespoons
    • Chili flakes1 tablespoon
    • Coriander seeds crushed½ tablespoon
    • Ground cumin1 tablespoon
    • Garam masala½ teaspoon
    • Saltto taste
    • Spring onions, choppedfor garnish


  • In a large pot heat water, add the cubed potatoes, cover and let it boil for 10 minutes until cooked.
  • Mash the potatoes.
  • In a frying pan, heat oil, sliced onions until translucent. Then add butter and mix.
  • Add garlic paste and mix.
  • Add the mashed potatoes then add red chili flakes, crushed coriander seeds, ground cumin, garam masala, salt and mix well.
  • Garnish with spring onions.
