A mouthwatering vegetarian pulao prepared with red lentils and rice, perfect for lunch and dinner. This dish is great for vegetarians as well as anyone looking for a delicious and nutritious meal option.

 

Ingredients

    • Oil5-6 tablespoons
    • Onion1-2
    • Cumin seeds1 teaspoon
    • Star Anise1-3
    • Black Cardamom2-3
    • Cloves5-6
    • Peppercorn½ teaspoon
    • Whole Red Chilli1 teaspoon
    • Cinnamon2 sticks
    • Garlic paste1 teaspoon
    • Ginger paste½ teaspoon
    • Tomatoes1-2
    • Green chilies4-5
    • Red lentils1 KG
    • Red Chilli Powder1 teaspoon
    • SaltTo Taste
    • Coriander Powder1 teaspoon
    • Cumin Powder1 teaspoon
    • WaterAs required
    • Yogurt½ cup
    • Turmeric Powder½ teaspoon
    • Rice1 KG
    • CorianderFor garnish

Preparation

  • Heat oil in a large pot, add sliced onions and fry until brown.
  • Add cumin seeds, star anise, black cardamom, cloves, peppercorn, whole red chili, cinnamon sticks and stir for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in garlic paste and ginger paste.
  • Mix in diced tomatoes and whole green chilies.
  • Add red lentils, red chili powder, salt, coriander powder, cumin powder and stir for two minutes.
  • Now add water and bring to a boil for 15-20 minutes.
  • Stir in yogurt and turmeric powder, and let simmer for 10-12 minutes.
  • Add soaked rice and stir well.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and let simmer for 10-12 minutes.
